The Seedfolk Store is a business venture under the auspices of ProsperRochester, Inc. (a non-profit community engagement organization in SouthWest Rochester). We are proudly located in Rochester’s historic Susan B Anthony neighborhood. In addition to selling fresh produce and healthy products in an area identified by New York State as a food desert, the Seedfolk Store provides job opportunities and entrepreneurship training to youth in the neighborhood. Future plans include a shared kitchen to allow residents to start catering or similar businesses. In addition to growing our own produce, we support neighbors in growing their own produce and in managing community gardens.
What We do:
Sell healthy food. Our store sells a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as locally made granola from Small World Food, herbal teas from Hallelujah Teas, handmade soaps, healthy packaged snacks, and more.
Engage & Employ Youth. The Grow SouthWest (GSW) Youth Employment Program engages youth in meaningful, youth-development and community focused employment with an emphasis on participating as leaders in the local food system.
Food Cupboard: The Seedfolk Store is an official SWEM (South West Ecumenical Ministries) Food Cupboard location. Eligible participants can pick up their food bags at the store (540 W. Main St.) Tuesdays-Fridays, 1:30-6 and Saturdays, 2-4. To see if you are eligible for this program, call SWEM at 235-4491.
